Kevin Conroy marked an entire generation as the voice of Batman

O Batmanwithout a doubt, is one of the most iconic characters in the world of comics, animations and films. After all, even if someone doesn’t like superhero media and doesn’t know anything about it, they certainly know Batman.

This character became much better known thanks to his animated series, which was released in 1992. This series was the predecessor of the great DC Comics animations.

The character was part of the childhood of many children in the 90s and early 2000s, as well as the series “Justice League” and “Justice League: Unlimited”, in Brazil, being known by their respective translations, “Justice League” and “Justice League Without Limits”.

Batman, unlike other characters from the publisher, has some great adaptations for the big screen in live-action films, such as the “Batman: Dark Knight” trilogy and “The Batman”, the hero’s latest film.

However, the real highlight of DC’s adaptations are the animations, many of which are of such great quality that they even compete with major films. And if you’ve ever seen any of the DC Comics animations in their original English language audio, you’ll remember very well the wonderful voice that dubs the character.

The Legend Kevin Conroy

Many people don’t recognize the name Kevin Conroy, however, at the same time, as mentioned, if you’ve watched any animation that features Batman in its original audio, you’ve undoubtedly heard Conroy’s voice.

Kevin Conroy, born in 1955, is the voice of Batman. In all of his animated adaptations, where a voice actor is needed, Conroy has been the serious, menacing and suffering voice of the character, since his first adaptation in 1992 for “Batman: The Animated Series”.

Since then, Conroy has been responsible for voicing the character for any adaptation. However, the actor passed away in 2022, at the age of 66. But his colleagues did not fail to honor the great friend and excellent professional that Conroy was, marking the childhood of many.

In an interview for CBRthe producers and co-writers of the 92 series, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, commented on their friend and how he influenced the new comic series “Batman: The Adventures Continue”. Check out the translation of some moments:

“I think the greatest gift that Kevin gave us as creators, or me and Alan, is that whenever we write the character now, at least for me, his voice reverberates in my head.”Paul comments.

“Well, he’s one of the few people who never… There was never a problem with him about anything. He was ready to try anything we threw at him. I think that’s one of the things I loved about him. And his voice, which I described as extraordinarily powerful and warm at the same time. time”, Alan says about his friend.

Conroy certainly left his mark on the lives of many of the character’s fans, in a way, dictating how the famous detective’s voice should sound. If you ever hear Bruce Wayne’s deep tone of voice when he speaks, know that it was Kevin Conroy who brought this character to life.
