Even though Stadia is no more, Google’s passion for video game streaming is still very much alive. Mountain View firm can use Youtube For his new approach to Cloud Gaming.
The Wall Street Journal states that a new feature called Playables may appear on Youtube. The concept is as simple as pie: this is to allow site users to play titles directly in video player via cloud, Android, iOS or on the website. It’s a way to use an already built app and not create an app from scratch like with Stadia. Because what is cloud play other than an interactive video stream sent to the user?
Youtube tests Cloud Gaming internally
For now, Google has not made any statement on the subject, but The Wall Street Journal says it received an internal email refers to the operation of this service. It encourages employees to test Playables and provide feedback. The first game available on the service will be Stack Bounce, an original and very popular brick breaker on mobile. Google wanted to react to this article with the voice of its spokesperson quoted in the Wall Street Journal:
“Video games have always been one of Youtube’s interests. We’re constantly testing new features, but we don’t have anything to announce right now.”
So there is nothing to announce, but a lot to test. We’ll see what Google has in store for us in the future. After an unconvincing Stadia, The American firm should delve deeper into its copy and the use of Youtube can be an interesting card to play.
Cloud gaming remains a minority, but offers are multiplying on the market: Xbox, Shadow, GeForce Now, Amazon Luna… and maybe Youtube soon.
