‘Fantastic Four’ is on the verge of oblivion; understand the reasons

The “Fantastic Four” was considered the most important property of Marvel and, as we can see, nowadays he is no longer as popular as he once was, a problem that has not yet been solved. The members of the Fantastic Four were Marvel’s first family and helped transform the company into a household name known throughout the world, alongside creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The characters Reed Richards, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing have become very famous and have won over countless comic book fans around the world. But “Fantastic Four #48″ only proves what fans have known for years: the Fantastic Four’s greatest enemy is not Doctor Doom or Kang the Conqueror, but stagnation.

We know that long before the X-Men, Spider-Man, Black Panther or any of the other Marvel superheroes created by Stan Lee, the Fantastic Four was Marvel’s flagship franchise. And unlike almost every other superhero that had made its mark at the time, the members of the Fantastic Four didn’t wear masks or capes, they didn’t have sidekicks or secret identities and, most importantly, they were a family with their own personality flaws and arguments.

Furthermore, the cool thing about this Quartet is that it didn’t take long for each superhero to show their flaws, weaknesses and family dramas. From this context, they all had to adapt to survive, even more so after Reed Richards and Sue Storm had children, remembering that it was Doctor Doom who named their daughter Valeria.

In the comic book “Fantastic Four #48,” written by David Pepose with art by Juann Cabal, it seems that the Fantastic Four have stagnated and stopped changing. And this is even after the Celestial Progenitor tried to change the world by destroying it completely. As the character Susan Storm protects the Baxter Building from enemies, Reed Richards is narrated, talking about his thoughts on his family.

He admits that he loves Sue, even when he can’t say those words to her face, and he admits that Johnny Storm is underrated. He also says that he admires the Thing’s indomitable will when he faces impossible odds. But nothing has changed, and every Fantastic Four fan has surely heard this speech before.

We realize that the Fantastic Four family has not shown significant changes in years, and in a medium that always presents transformations, we can only inform that this group is being left behind while the status of other heroes are changed.

We have countless examples of changes, such as Daredevil, who recently faked his own death; Spider-Man, who is no longer dating Mary Jane; Black Panther, who is no longer the King of Wakanda; and the spirit of Thor’s father, which now resides inside his hammer.

Meanwhile, in the Fantastic Four, only the Thing has changed, when he adopted two children. However, the other members seem to remain rooted in the past. Ultimately, despite this, the characters are still as attractive as they were in 1961, but the whole story needs some changes so as not to fall into the same old thing and be abandoned, like so many other heroes who have fallen into oblivion.
