One of Superman’s most famous rescues had an unexpected ending for fans. A tragic sequence reveals what happened to the young woman who was saved from suicide by the hero in “All-Star Superman”.
Fans around the world know that there is nothing more important to Superman on Earth than the people he has to protect. But it’s not enough for heroes to stop villains; Superman insists on being there for those who need him most, and nothing shows Clark’s endless dedication to the world more than “All-Star Superman.”
When a young girl named Regan tries to jump off a building, Superman talks her down and pulls her out safely. It’s a moment that isn’t just about defeating Darkseid or capturing Lex Luthor. “All-Star Superman” demonstrated that by being there and reminding someone how strong they can be, Superman can bring about real, powerful change.
However, despite the scene, there is a dark sequence that will shock fans. In Batman/Superman #17, by Greg Pak and Ardian Syaf, an unknown threat stalks those with a personal connection to Clark.
After an attempt on the lives of Supergirl, Steel, and Superman’s loyal dog Krypto, another wave of attacks hit three locations: Khandaq, Seoul, and Metropolis. While Superman is able to save Lex Luthor’s life in Metropolis, the same cannot be said for the victims in the other two locations.
It should be noted that the person rescued earlier by Superman has the same name as other similar characters. In Superman #701, Clark forbids a woman named Felicity Rose from jumping off the building after talking to and standing next to her.
Glory Mau’s name is a mix of Regan and Felicity’s names. So while it may seem like Glory would be Regan from “All-Star Superman,” the singer is usually just a reference to the two scenes in which the hero prevents a suicide.
The scene clearly demands that readers remember Regan’s iconic life-saving. Superman has saved dozens of people, but few cases, like Clark and Regan’s, have resonated with fans.
Even though she’s not the same Regan that fans thought she was, Glory Mau’s death is an attempt to evoke emotion in fans by making them reminisce about their favorite moment from “All-Star Superman.”
The moment probably would have worked if Glory Mau’s stage name had been the default name. Instead, the moment reminds readers to think of Regan to convey how broken Clark is. Regan is worth more than just being killed for making Superman suffer.
