In the year 2022, Marvel Studios presented fans with “Thor: Love and Thunder”. This film was undoubtedly inspired by the pages of issue number 11 of the comic series “Thor: God of Thunder”, published in August 2013.
The film takes viewers through an incredible journey, in which both Thor Odinson and Thor Jane Foster unite in a desperate battle against the formidable Gorr, known as the Butcher of the Gods. This struggle takes them to the transcendental realm called Eternity.

One of the most striking nuances of the film is Jane Foster’s emotional battle with cancer, which worsens in her human form as she assumes the role of Goddess of Thunder. This internal conflict adds depth and drama to the narrative, exploring human frailty, even for those with divine powers.
At the story’s climax, Thor Odinson challenges Gorr, questioning his motivations and suggesting he make a wish that could change everything. Rather than pursue his revenge against the gods, Thor suggests that Gorr wish for the resurrection of his deceased daughter, Love (or “Love”).
This surprising and heartbreaking twist leaves the Butcher of the Gods in deep reflection as he witnesses the last moments of Jane Foster.
Freed from the corrupting influence of the Necrosword, Gorr agrees with Thor’s suggestion and uses the wish he gained from accessing Eternity to bring his daughter back to life. This final act, filled with humanity, marks a moment of redemption for the villain, as Jane faces her inevitable fate and departs this life.
The film culminates movingly with Thor adopting Love, the daughter of his now-redeemed former enemy. Love, demonstrating a warrior spirit, is ready to fight alongside her new father, embracing a new path of heroism and redemption.
How did Gorr end in the comics?

In the comics, Gorr planned to create a terrifying “God Bomb” to eradicate all gods. He used the fearsome Necrosword to capture the different facets of Thor, including the “young” Thor, the “hero” Thor of the Avengers and the “King of Asgard” Thor.
The plot unfolded with the help of Gorr’s resurrected son, who played a key role in helping the Thors escape Gorr’s prison. The story reached its climax when Thor, the Avengerabsorbed the Necrosword, becoming powerful enough to defeat Gorr.
Notably, Gorr’s “son” was actually a manifestation created by Necrosword itself, and he sided with the Thors in the fight against his father.
