Did ‘Doctor Doom’ steal the origin of another famous character? Find out

The new version of “Doctor Doom” uses the origin story of a well-known “Dragon Ball” hero, the Little Pig. In “Dragon Ball”, Piccolo underwent numerous changes throughout his story. Initially, he debuted as King Piccolo.

King Piccolo had an evil personality and threatened to dominate the Earth, and so there was a battle with Son Goku and his allies. Piccolo emerged some time after this fight as King Piccolo’s son, and from his father he inherited all of his evil. Over time, thanks to the influence of Goku and Gohan, Piccolo established himself as a warrior of justice. Piccolo was able to discover the truth of his past after fusing with Kami, another Namekian.

Namekian divided his soul into a good part and an evil part, and originally, Piccolo was created after that. In the new version of “Doctor Doom”, the character came to life after Victor Von Doom used an artifact that divided him into two opposite versions. This is why the origins of both characters are so similar.

Namekian arrived on Earth as the sole survivor of a tragedy on his home planet. In this, it is understood that he is, in fact, two halves of the same being. Committed to his purification and willing to leave behind his impure image, through a long process of training, an unexpected event occurred: this being ended up creating a super evil figure, King Piccolo.

Dark-Doom is more powerful than Doom in “All-Out Avengers” and, respectively, in “Dragon Ball”, King Piccolo is also the one who has more power than Kami. After many years, Piccolo and Kami merge resulting in a Namekian warrior who holds great power and goodness. In the story of the Avengers, Victor Von Doom is weaker than in his divided versions, as he finds himself in a conflict between good and evil.

“Boku no Hero Academia” was published in 2014 and is a great example of how manga inspiration from superhero comics can be successful. However, in this specific case, the opposite happened, as the new versions of “Doctor Doom” mentioned above have exactly the same origin as Piccolo.
