Plans for a series about celebrities Paquitas by presenter Xuxa gained strength on Globo, after the success of the artist’s documentary on Globoplay.
However, the news comes with a dose of controversy. The broadcaster invited Marlene Mattos, renowned director and former person responsible for Xuxa’s career, to participate in the project, but an unforeseen event arose before filming even began.
Controversies in production
Marlene, currently in charge of directing Geraldo Luís’ new program on RedeTV!, accepted the invitation from the streaming platform, according to information from journalist Fábia Oliveira, from Metrópoles.
However, a setback arose when four former Paquitas refused the proposal due to the lack of financial remuneration.
Globo’s decision disappointed former stage assistants Xuxa, which casts a shadow over the development of the series.

Although Globoplay has not released details about the content or the premiere date of the documentary series, Marlene Mattos is focusing her efforts on recording segments and reports for Geraldo Luís’s program on RedeTV!.
She played a crucial role in Xuxa Meneghel’s career for almost two decades, including the selection and permanence of the Paquitas in Globo’s attractions.
The tense reunion between the artist and her former boss was highlighted in an episode of the documentary about Xuxa’s life, with exchanges of barbs and accusations, documented in the presence of Pedro Bial.
The Paquitas were a Brazilian musical group formed in 1984 by the stage assistants of the presenter Xuxa, under the command of Marlene Mattos.
The partnership ended in 2002 with the breakup of the professional relationship between Marlene and Xuxa. In the programs presented by Xuxa, in the United States, the group was known as Pixies.
Xuxa Meneghel is one of the most prominent personalities in Ibero-American children’s entertainment. With programs in several countries and a multifaceted career, Xuxa reached millions of viewers daily and became one of the most successful artists in the Brazilian music market, with significant album sales and international awards.
