The highly anticipated series of ‘Stranger Things‘ faces turmoil as fans organize to boycott the upcoming and final season.
It all started after the circulation of a controversial video, in which Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, expresses support for Zionism, generating outrage and indignation among internet users.
Controversial statements
The video shows a smiling Schnapp filming other people holding up “Zionism is Sexy” leaflets, fueling a controversial perspective on the West Bank conflict.
THE Zionism is a movement that advocates the recognition of Israel as an independent and sovereign nation.
However, the central problem lies in Schnapp’s choice to support this idea, while many global celebrities are promoting peace.
The video was deemed insensitive, leading some fans to call for the actor’s removal from the cast and organize a boycott of the series’ final episodes.
On social media, outrage was felt, with one Twitter user declaring:
“The least we can do is completely boycott the upcoming season of ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix. If Bella Hadid can lose modeling contracts just for standing up for Palestine, Noah Schnapp shouldn’t be allowed to get away with so enthusiastically enforcing genocide.”
