At the moment we talk about anime and bring the following description: “Super-strong protagonist who is bullied by his childhood friend who eventually becomes his rival“, the thought of “Boku no Hero” and the rivalry between Midoriya and Bakugou is almost immediate. However, this phrase did not serve to describe their “enmity”.
In reality, the person who used this phrase was the artist Natália Zilio, who posted a tribute to two works on her Twitter. The first of them, logically, is “Boku no Hero”, and the second refers to one of the icons of Brazilian culture, Mônica.
That’s right, she combined the “short, toothy look” of “Turma da Mônica” with the style of “Boku no Hero”. Below, we see the publication in which the character is using Midoriya’s heroic costume:

With the phrase we mentioned at the beginning of this article, Natália was joking about the fact that Mônica, like Midoriya, had an annoying childhood friend. In the case of the Brazilian character, the also unforgettable Cebolinha.
In fact, Mônica and Cebolinha were the first two characters in “Turma da Mônica”, appearing in the first strip, which would later give rise to one of the most read magazines in the country.
‘Turma da Mônica Jovem’ in live-action
For those who are fans of “Turma da Mônica” and have followed its growth into the magazine’s youth phase, know that there is news.
Recently, the live-action was very successful with the adaptations “Turma da Mônica: Laços” and “Turma da Mônica: Lições”. Therefore, considering the success of these films and the fans’ affection for the young version of the characters, there was the announcement, at CCXP 2022, of a film about the characters.
Furthermore, a few days ago, the actors who will play the main characters were announced, namely: Sophia Valverde as Mônica; Xande Valois as Onion; Bianca Paiva as Magali; and Theo Salomão as Cascão. The newest main character of the young group, Milena, will be played by Carol Roberto.
We just have to wait and see which of the young gang’s stories will be adapted into a feature film. For now, we can appreciate the affection from fans like Natália Zilio through their tributes.
