There is no denying that Batman vs. Superman has always been an old debate that exists in the DC Universe. However, this discussion is entirely based on lies.
While there are many planned scenes where we see them pitted against each other, this does not match the truth, which is that Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are friends and incredibly close.
Even though it may seem exciting to imagine them as rivals, that is not the truth. The relationship between the two began the moment they crossed paths on a fateful cruise.
This historic moment is recorded in “Superman # 76”, released in 1952, created and developed by Edmond Hamilton, Curt Swan, Stan Kaye and John Fischetti. From that moment on, they became friends, who also have the responsibility of acting as the central pillars of the DC Universe.
Furthermore, we see Superman’s optimism preventing Batman from falling completely into darkness, in the same way that Batman’s familiarity with the events that occurred in Superman’s life helps him reinforce the hero when Clark is at his worst.
The reality is that Batman and Superman are destined to be allies and, perhaps more than that, friends. Although there are times when there is some friction between them, at the end of the day they are always there for each other.
“Batman #127,” by Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jiménez, and Tomeu Morey, is one of the clearest examples of this union. After being framed by Penguin, we see Batman being hunted by Failsafe, a robot designed to pursue and annihilate him completely if, at any point, Batman goes rogue and ends up crossing the line and killing someone.
Suddenly, we see Batman bleeding in the flames of Wayne Manor, ready to die and leave everything behind, when Superman enters the scene and tells Failsafe to stay away from his friend.
For this and other reasons, Batman vs. Superman will always be a lie, because at the end of the day the friendship between the two will remain intact.
