From the beginning, Andor has announced itself as a series in-between Star Wars productions. For starters, unlike The Book of Bobba Fett, or more recently Obi-Wan Kenobi, this one focuses on a much more secretive, if not unimportant character in Georges Lucas’ universe because he only appears in the Rogue One spin-off . film. But also, as the trailers show, Cassian Andor doesn’t look like a cartoonish character from Star Wars mythology.
Understand that with this it will not be about the extravagant hero who goes to save the peril of the widow and orphan at the cost of his life, but about a man among many who are ready for anything to survive. “Cassian Andor is a very, very different Star Wars hero. Suspicious. Fake. A liar. That makes the show even better.”, writes Screenrant journalist Alisha Grauso. And many share his opinion.
Andor won’t be a Star Wars series like the others
As a matter of fact, Disney sent the first four episodes of the series to various channels and the embargo was lifted, and journalists were finally able to give their first impressions. At first glance, everyone agrees that the Star Wars universe of the series is very different from what it has presented to us so far. In fact, it will be closer to the tone of Rogue One, which saw Cassian Andor’s character emerge.
“If you like Rogue One because it’s not your typical Star Wars movie, you’ll probably love Andor for the same reasons.”, says Stephen Libbey. Josh Weiss for himself “The most mature and sophisticated Star Wars project to date: brilliantly written, beautifully shot and confidently played”. One thing is for sure: Andor will be a big (and obviously good) surprise.
