After the success of the live-action, Netflix bets on a new ‘One Piece’ anime

After the huge success of the live-action ‘One Piece‘ and the great critical acceptance, the Netflix wants to explore more of the universe of the character Luffy, the ‘elastic boy’, and his battle partners.

This Sunday (18), the streaming platform announced that it will produce a new anime from the manga series, but without stipulating an exact release date.

‘One Piece’ is a Japanese creation Eiichiro Oda and new chapters are already scheduled to premiere. The first episode of the cartoon was released in 1999 and, since then, 20 seasons have been broadcast in total.

The plans of the Netflix aim to strengthen the anime, but one crucial difference should be noted by ‘One Piece’ fans. The remake, according to the information released so far, should be carried out by another animation studio.

The Japanese studio chosen was Wit Studio, a production company already famous in the segment and responsible for works such as the anime film ‘Pokémon, the Movie: The Power of Us’, released in 2018, as well as ‘Attack on Titan‘.

25 years of ‘One Piece’

Netflix’s announcement was not made by chance. The platform decided to bet on the anime to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘One Piece’. Although the first animated chapter was broadcast in 1999, the comics already existed since 1997.

Fans of the cartoon can expect a lot of new things in the coming years. The success of the live-action series has sparked rumors of a possible sequel in this format. It’s worth checking out!
