A Marvel Studios reacts to the conviction of actor Jonathan Majors for assault, changing the title of the highly anticipated next ‘Avengers’ film.
Previously titled ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘, the film is now temporarily called ‘Avengers 5’. This change indicates the possible exclusion of the actor who would play the villain Kang in the plot.
Other changes coming to the MCU
The decision was taken after Majors’ arrest, which occurred in March this year, for attacking his ex-girlfriend, choreographer Grace Jabbari.
The legal implications and impact on upcoming Marvel productions resulted in the actor being fired and uncertainty surrounding the film’s future.
Despite the title change, Marvel has not yet clarified whether it will keep the character Kang as a central part of the plot, thus carrying out a recast, or whether it will completely reformulate the plot, excluding the villain from the story.
Hiring the creator of ‘Loki‘, Michael Waldron, to rewrite the script in November, indicates a significant restructuring.

The Hollywood actors’ strike caused a new postponement of Marvel releases. Films such as ‘Deadpool 3’, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and ‘Blade’ have undergone changes in their release dates, altering the panorama of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the coming years.
Amid this reorganization, Marvel’s schedule for 2024 shows only one scheduled release in theaters. However, 2025 promises to be a busy year, with four films confirmed, including the highly anticipated arrival of the ‘Fantastic Four’ on May 1st.
