Actress reveals what Chadwick Boseman’s last day was like on the set of ‘Black Panther’

Behind the scenes of great cinematographic productions they contain stories as moving as those we see on screen.

One such narrative came to light when Angela Bassett shared memories of her last day of filming with Chadwick Boseman.

In a conversation with People magazine, the actress brought to mind a particularly touching moment she experienced alongside Boseman on the set of ‘Black Panther’.

Farewell to a great actor

It was against the backdrop of Warrior Falls. There, Bassett, after completing scenes as Queen Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, Boseman’s character, had a meeting with her colleague.

“That was my last day of filming and we were at Warrior Falls. I had finished my task and Chadwick came and hugged me. And I just hugged him,” Bassett recalled.

She described the moment as “a glorious scene full of splendid beauty, people, music and pride.”

The exchange was not just a simple farewell gesture between co-workers, but a powerful symbol of the bond that formed between them, reflecting the spirit of community and family on set.

The film’s sequel, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘, still had Bassett reprising his role, despite the painful absence of Boseman, who passed away in August 2020, due to colon cancer, which left all MCU fans deeply sad.

Boseman’s impact on set and beyond is undeniable. His dedication to the role and his ability to convey depth and humanity without necessarily using words were aspects that Bassett admired about him.

“Seeing the work he did and getting to know, every day, the human being he was — sometimes you don’t need to say much, but just look into each other’s eyes and convey everything you want to say, everything you wait,” mused Bassett.

In ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, we see the character Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, take on the mantle of Black Panther. It remains to be seen now how things will continue in the world of Marvel.
