The Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) has announced a 16-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Members of the T20I squad against South Africa were put to rest keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup and India’s mega event ready to fly on October 6.

The captaincy will be given to Shikhar Dhawan with BCCI, while Shreyas Iyer will be his assistant. The three-match ODI series will kick off on 6 October in Lucknow.

Madhya Pradesh batsman Rajat Patiday and Bengal speedster Mukesh Kumar were called to represent the Men in Blue. Reserved players in the T20 World Cup squad – Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer have also been added to the roster. Mohammad Shami is also a reserved player but can replace Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from the World Cup. Bumrah’s status at the World Cup is still in doubt.

Meanwhile, Men in Blue clinched the three-game T20I series 2-0. In the second T20I played on October 2, despite David Miller’s undefeated tone, Proteas were unable to track 238 running goals and lost the match by 16 runs.

Siraj, Deepak Chahar.
