Since the Indian team’s unconvincing exit from the T20 World Cup 2022, there has been constant pressure from cricket experts and fans to form a young T20I team. Many feel that the T20I team needs a change and the inclusion of young players would add more value. Specifically, the Men in Blue didn’t show enough intent with the stick at the show event.
Amidst all the controversy, a BCCI source confirmed that veteran players liked it. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will focus on longer formats and will not be selected for T20I matches in 2023.
“BCCI never asks anyone to retire. This is an individual decision. But yes, with only a handful of T20Is planned for 2023, most of the seniors will be focusing on ODIs and Test matches this cycle. You don’t need to announce your retirement if you don’t want to. You won’t see most of the seniors playing T20 next year.” the BCCI source said PTI.

Aakash Chopra identifies India team’s biggest problem
Converted cricketer commentator Aakash Chopra pointed to the Indian team’s biggest concerns after the 2022 T20 World Cup. Tendulkar would also contribute with the ball.
“Why aren’t our hitters bowling? People like Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar used to bowl, but nobody bowls anymore. The batsmen have stopped bowling at nets altogether, they either hit or take the field and then leave. So it’s a big problem.” Chopra said.
