Rishabh Pant breaks Kapil Dev’s record for fastest 50 by an Indian in Test cricket

Rishabh Pant reached a milestone by crushing the fastest fifty in Test cricket history by an Indian player in a Day-Night Test at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, 13 March.

The goalkeeper kicker achieved this feat by throwing 28 balls against Sri Lanka. Veteran Kapil Dev held the record for 40 years after 50 of 30 deliveries against Pakistan in 1982. The versatile, number 7 hitter scored 73 goals over 53 balls. However, India lost the game by an innings and 86 runs.

Disruptive Rishabh Pant beat the legendary cricketer by hitting a border off Praveen Jayawickrama in the 42nd round of India’s second inning. He broke 7 quads and 2 sixes to get there. However, the left-handed batter was caught by hitting the same ground. But he’s also the first to make a fast 30 run at a rate of 150+ strokes per shot of a Test.
