The West Indies were asked to hit first and set a good 165 for India at Warner Park in St Kitts on Tuesday 2 August. With the exception of Kyle Mayers, no other West Indies batsman would have gone past 30 runs. Mayers was the top scorer, scoring 73 points out of 50 balls, breaking eight bounds and four sixes.
India responded by batting opening players Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, but had to return as the former player retired. He scored 11 points from 5 balls, four and six.
Suryakumar Yadav kicked off the half by scoring 76 points from 44 balls with an impressive hit rate of 172.73 and smashing eight fours and four sixes. At 14.3, Dominic Drakes threw a full and wide ball and Yadav wanted to take a big step off the closed log but swept it but was not in control of the bat. The ball went over the top edge and flew into the slender leg, which Alzarri Joseph safely caught.
Shreyas Iyer scored 24 points from 27 balls with two limits but Akeal Hosein sent him back with a nice flight length ball. Iyer used his feet to get to the ball court, but eventually passed the ball past. Behind the logs, Devon Thomas moved the balls.
Wicket-keeper batter pants then he smashed three borders and a six, scoring 33 points out of 26 balls. India scored 165 points, losing three wickets, and won the match by seven wickets. Get this win, now 2-1 ahead of the West Indies.
