shubman gill played an important role in helping Gujarat Titans They lifted the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy for the first time in the cash-rich league in 2022. However, the franchise’s social media account posted a mysterious tweet, leaving fans confused as to whether GT will part ways with the youngster. Or is it a joke or is Gill part of an ad campaign?
On Saturday, September 17, the Gujarat Titans wrote this on Twitter: “It has been a journey to remember. We wish you all the best for your next endeavor, @ShubmanGilI!
Gill replied with a hug and an expression of heart.
The franchise later re-tweeted “Gill will always be a part of us (heart emoji) Note: It’s not what you think, but we love theories. Go on!”

Gill debuted for the Kolkata Knight Riders, but their management refused to keep him. He was then signed by Gujarat for INR 8 crore in the 15th edition of the league. He scored a total of 483 runs in 16 games at a stroke rate of 132.33 and an average of 34.50, also including four half-century strokes and a career-best T20 score of 96.
It was unbeaten when it clashed with the Rajasthan Royals in the final. Gill’s undefeated 45 of 43 gunshots helped Gujarat chase down the easy 131.
“It means a lot. After winning U-19 World Cup, winning the IPL is just as big. This is my fourth year. I wanted to be there until the end and talked to the coaches. Glad I got them off the line. Our bowlers bowled really well to limit it to 130. We wanted to keep them under 150 but luckily it was much less,” Gill said after the win.
Experts question the strike rate, as it does not comply with the T20 standard. However, the 23-year-old player has the skills to shoot long and effective strokes.
