Cricket Australia announced their cricket squad on Thursday 1 September for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Prolific hitter and Mumbai Indian player Tim David was included as leg spinner Mtchell Swepson missed the tournament.
The sides will first travel to India for three T20Is in September, then play in the West Indies, England, then play in India again before opening the World Cup tournament against New Zealand on October 22. But Australian great David Warner will miss his India tour and Cameron. Green was included in the tour of India.
Head of NSP Selectors George Bailey “This is a similar roster to the team that was the first Australian men’s team to win the T20 World Cup and are now very excited to play the tournament at home.
“Mitchell Swepson was unlucky to miss based on conditions in the UAE at the last World Cup we had planned for tired, rotating wickets compared to what we expected good hitting conditions with wider pitches in Australia.
“Tim (David) continues to prove himself and earn a roster spot with some quality performances in leagues around the world. He is a very talented natural ball forwarder who will add extra batting depth to the group who excels in T20 cricket.
Australia Squad: Aaron Finch (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
