The India women’s team were playing their third group stage match against Barbados at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Edgbaston, Birmingham, United Kingdom, on Wednesday, 4 August. India defeated Barbados by 100 runs with the help of Renuka Singh’s four-door pull. With this win, India advanced to the semi-finals.
Barbados won the toss and chose to go bowling first. with the help of India, Jeminah Rodrigues A cameo from Shefali Verma and Deepti Sharma set a good 163 target for Barbados.
Verma had an impressive hit rate of 165.38 and under, seven-fours with 43 points, 26 balls, while Rodrigues had 56 undefeated laps over 46 balls with six borders and six balls. Next, Deepti Sharma hit two fours and sixes to score 28 ball 34 points to take India 162/4.
When Barbados went out to strike, Renuka Singh kept sending them back. She hit Deandra Dottin bowling earlier. She then sent back Hayley Matthews and Kycia Knight.
No Windies dough even hit the 20 run mark. Knight became Barbados’ top scorer with 16 runs out of 20 balls. In the end, Barbados could only score 62 points, losing eight wickets in the 20 overs they allotted. Meghna Singh, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur each got one wicket while Renuka Singh swam with four wickets. Renuka conceded just 10 runs in his four overs.
