Xiaomi has always shown a certain admiration for Apple, often risking being inspired by the design of its products. We’ve already seen the company do this on their own computers, even their first smartphones. However, as Xiaomi seems to have taken its own design direction in all its designs, to line up. So much so that the firm was considered to have truly finished these applications, for the better: the firm’s latest products, all categories combined, are much more innovative than the products of the giant in Cupertino.
Huami Amawfit GTS: Xiaomi copied the Apple Watch 4 in everything except autonomy
However, it seems that Apple products continue to be the benchmark for Xiaomi. As proof, it’s the latest product from its subsidiary Huami: the Amazfit GTS, a linked watch. Let’s not overdo it: This watch is a replica of the Apple Watch 4, with its square display with rounded edges and a wheel that evokes the digital crown of its rival. The only real difference is that the side button is missing and one side of the case lacks openings for sound and sound to pass through.
It doesn’t include an electrocardiogram sensor like the latest iteration of the Apple Watch – but it does have a BioTracker heart rate sensor, an NFC chip for transport and payments, and a GPS/GLONASS chip for geolocation and Bluetooth 5.0. The case is made of “aviation grade” aluminum, waterproof to 5 ATM. It’s also very light and slightly thinner because it weighs 24.8g for the 9.4mm thickness, 48g and 10.7mm for the Apple Watch Series 4.
And despite its AMOLED display and 220 mAh battery, it has a battery life of up to 14 days. But as you can imagine, you have to read the words in lowercase: This incredible autonomy is achieved only at the expense of disabling certain functions that are at the heart of a connected watch experience, such as GPS. If you need to track your movements, battery life drops to just 25 hours – that’s slightly longer than the official Apple Watch Series 4 battery life of 18 hours.

This smartwatch is currently only available for pre-order in China for around 900 yuan, or around €117 – it’s almost four times cheaper than the Apple Watch Series 4, which starts at €429. We do not know at this time if or when it will be available for sale in France.
