On the occasion of Baselworld 2015, the exhibition dedicated to watches, the Swiss watch giant announced a partnership with Google and Intel for its first smartwatch. And whoever says Google, says Android Wear. Today, while there are a dozen connected watches under Google OS, Mountain View company managed to convince Tag Heuer to integrate its system at the first connected hour.
The Swiss brand’s arrival in the smartwatch market could drop the Huawei Watch and other LG Watch Urbane into the gadget rank. because Tag Heuer decided to market the famous Carrera watch in the linked version.
Carrera is a symbol of the Swiss watch manufacturer, which belongs to the LVMH group. So, for the first time, is a watchmaker open to technology and as a watchmaker, it’s not a high-tech brand improvising.
This Tag Heuer Carrera will therefore be Intel that will integrate Android Wear and provide the processor for the hardware. With such a watch created by a watchmaking expert, Apple has reason to be concerned. Because Apple Watch doesn’t seem to bring many new features compared to Android Wear in terms of functionality.

What set it apart from watches that had integrated Google OS so far was its design made of luxury materials. Google enters luxury market with Tag Heuer Carrera. Other brands should follow suit, as Google does not grant exclusivity to Tag Heuer.
Frankly, a Tag Heuer Carrera watch is priced much higher than other brands: $1400. It will go on sale in November. It will therefore be a great competitor to the Apple Watch Edition, whose price starts at 11,000 Euros, especially since this Tag Heuer will display 40 hours of autonomy!
