Samsung introduced its new connected watch Gear S3, which it inherited from Gear S2, at IFA. The peculiarity of the latter is that for the first time it is available in two models, a frontier and a classic, like the latest Moto 360 and the sports version.
Boundary model more made for backpackers, it will also come with two silicone bracelets. It is heavier and more durable than the classic model. The classic model will come with a single strap, but the second will be leather.
These watches are quite successful on their own, but the only problem is their price. Indeed, only the model with Bluetooth, that is, the classic model, 299 euros, the price of the Nexus 5X at the release of this in the 16 GB version. And again the base model, you should know that the border version with 4G modem will be a little more expensive, we can bet about 349 euros.
Therefore, with such a high price policy, it is unlikely that the Korean manufacturer will impose connected watches. In fact, the latter is still a niche market, and it’s a safe bet that connected watches won’t thrive any further than that unless prices drop. But obviously that doesn’t stop Apple and Google from continuing to deliver updates for watchOS and Android Wear.
Finally let’s finish with availability, both watches will be on sale from October without a specific date. So what do you think about these watches and the prices that come with them?
