NestAudio : remember this name, because it’s the name of Google’s new connected speaker. If the device has already revealed itself via an official video this summer, we now know all about it. The speaker, which still does not have a screen, but, like its predecessors (Home Mini, Home Max, etc.), has four diodes in front of it, obviously vibrates with the help of Google Assistant.
Nothing has changed on this side. Ask the device using OK Google and ask about the latest news or weather, ask about geography, math, politics, history, popular culture… In most cases it will be able to answer you. The speaker still lets you listen to music on services like Deezer, YouTube Music or Spotify, as well as broadcast messages to any other connected speaker in the house or make calls using Google Duo.
New name, new design
But then, what’s new? First change: small enclosure, a new look. It retains its curves, but has a slightly flatter shape than the older version. What carries more easily and quickly puts in a bag. Weighing 1.2 kg and measuring 17.5 x 12.4 x 7.6 cm, the small connected speaker is available in 4 colours: pink, blue, black and grey. Note that only the gray housing and black housing will be marketed in France.
Also, Google sound quality, which it must be admitted was somewhat limited in the first Google Home. Google announced that it can sound 75% stronger than the old speaker. “Over 500 hours of adjustments have been made to balance the levels and deliver a sound that is clear, deep and as faithful to the studio version as possible,” explains Google.
To adjust the volume, simply tap the corners of the device. An area above the speaker allows you to start or pause playback on the device. Unlike the old version and privacy required, we now have a small button accessible at first glance that lets you mute the microphone. The speaker can be connected for a second to play stereo sound.
Nest Audio speaker costs 99.99 € and arrive next october 5. It is already possible to pre-order on the Google store.
