Official Huawei Watch GT: a connected watch for athletes with 14 days of autonomy

The official presentation of the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro was also an opportunity for the Chinese brand to highlight its future connected watch, the Huawei Watch GT. A device designed for athletes who excel in many ways.

Huawei Watch GT: long battery life, a connected watch for athletes

First of all, Huawei promises great autonomy for the Watch GT. It can really hold “Two weeks with 90 minutes of exercise a week and continuous heart reading”. With GPS and screen enabled, we get down to 22 hours of endurance. Some sites may mention up to 30 days of battery life, but don’t expect to go that far. This delay is only possible when all functions of the watch are disabled and in this case the benefit of owning a Watch GT is very limited.

Small surprise at SoC level, no Snapdragon Wear 3100 but hardware signature Huawei. The other striking element is the operating system that runs the watch: no, it’s not WearOS, Google’s solution, but the in-house system called Huawei Lite OS, which needs to be tested to evaluate its potential. Huawei has not announced a release date for the Watch GT. The price of the Sport model will be 199 euros, while the watch with a more classic design will cost 249 euros.
