Official HomePod: Apple takes over Google Home and Amazon Echo

Fashion in hi-tech has for some time always confused two aspects: connected objects that make it possible to connect the objects of our daily lives, and artificial intelligence, which in recent years has been envisioned as the great revolution.

That’s why we’re discovering new types of devices nowadays that mix bluetooth speakers with virtual assistants. Starting with the Amazon Echo, which started the fashion and is now equipped with a video screen. Of course, Apple should follow the trend.

Apple HomePod, Google Home dedicated to music

At the end of WWDC 2017, the American manufacturer has chosen to launch its own personal assistant dedicated to the home, the HomePod. Apart from that, the brand emphasizes sound capabilities above all else.

Less than 7 inches, the device is equipped with a 7-way control tweeter and an Apple-designed woofer. It is equipped with an Apple A8 chip. Its feature is to adapt to the configuration of the room by dividing the sound into several layers to improve the rendering quality.

The speaker is clearly connected to the Apple Music cloud, but that’s not all: Siri is integrated and offers control of your HomeKit configuration as well as the core functions of the voice assistant. However, the emphasis is not really on its presence, but rather on the quality of the sound.

Thus, it appears that Apple has arrived at the end of the evening and compensated for its delay by betting on the sound. So the fact that it’s a direct competitor to Google Home is left in the air before it’s really established. The Apple HomePod will launch in December for $349 in the US and worldwide in early 2018.
