IKEA launches a tethered plug for €8 compatible with Google Home, Amazon Echo and HomeKit

IKEA’s new connected plug is now available in France. The giant offers it in two variants, the standard model priced at 8 euros and the other with a magnetic key remote with a range of 10 meters. To use these connected sockets you must add TRÅDFRI gateway It is sold on the furniture giant’s website for 33 euros. The outlets join other connected objects of the brand, including light bulbs.

IKEA has launched a tethered plug at a mini price, just €8

IKEA doesn’t mention this on its site, but specifically mentions compatibility with the TRÅDFRI app, Alexa and Google Assistant assistants available on the App Store and Google Play Store. The smart plug appears to be controllable with Google Home, Amazon Echo, and HomeKit. However, it is not mentioned in the technical sheets on the IKEA site.

The products are available on the IKEA site, but currently impossible to order. And both versions of the socket do not appear to be out of stock in several stores tested. In any case, after TRÅDFRI connects the light bulbs, IKEA clearly continues to lower the prices of connected objects. What do you think about this connected plug, from your side?
