Google Glass: Phil Schiller (Apple) finds the project funny, but it’s doomed to fail!

Google Glass has shed a lot of ink since the Mountain View company unveiled its project. The possibilities offered by this connected object are endless, but it also raises many questions about respect for privacy.

The wearable computer is definitely the next phase of the technological revolution, and at a time when connected watches are gaining more and more importance in the market, glasses wearers struggle to seduce (at least those who have already been able to test them). So much so that Google officially announced this week that the marketing project has been temporarily abandoned for rework.

This is not the case for Phil Schiller, an emblematic figure of Apple, if Google persists and heavily relied on this product. In 2012, when Google Glass was launched, blogger Abdel Ibrahim emailed the Apple executive to ask his opinion on the matter. And the least we can say is Phil Schiller doesn’t take the project too seriously. At least that wasn’t the case back then.

“So funny. How can they believe a (normal) person can wear this” – Phil Schiller, Apple –

In response to Blogger’s email, very funny idea but also meant that he thought the project was doomed. He added that this connected glasses project briefly brought to mind the successful video glasses, but wondered how Google could believe it.such an object can be worn by someone “normal”.

The future will show us whether Apple or Google made the best strategic choice. The first, like many, bets on a connected watch, and the second on glasses. The arrival of the Apple Watch in a few weeks will tell us more about the intake that will be reserved for such connected objects. Because right now users are having a hard time seeing what these new devices bring the most. One thing’s for sure, it’s a small place at Apple.
