The Galaxy Ring, which has long been a distant rumor about which we have little information, is now very real, but still very mysterious. In fact, we could barely see it during MWC 2024, the latter being under cover and therefore impossible to test. But leaks have continued since then, revealing some details of both the technical sheet and the potential release date. A recent report from The Elec also provided some details.

As a matter of fact, Korean media explains that mass production of the connected ring should start next May. No wonder, as it’s now common knowledge that it should be officially released this year. But we can deduce the date of presentation: most likely it should take place next July. Or possibly at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, as suggested before.

Galaxy Ring should arrive at the same time as Samsung’s next folding phones

Elec also states that the Galaxy Ring should be marketed starting in August, which suggests that the next Unpacked event should take place at the end of July. Among other interesting details, the media claims that Samsung initially planned to produce 400,000 units, then adjusted that figure based on demand upon launch. Finally, it needs to be offered in two sizes, 8 and 9. As a reminder, only size 9 was exhibited at the MWC in Barcelona.

On the other hand, uncertainty still prevails regarding functionality. According to an insider interviewed by The Elec, Samsung “In the long term, we will continue to be a pioneer in the smart ring market by adding medical device features.” Translation: for now we’ll have to make do with the few wellness features accessible from the smartphone app. Elec concludes by stating that Samsung should opt for a market average price, a market that has not yet really taken off.
