Bose launches the Speaker Cube, a DIY bluetooth speaker for $150

At Moyens I/O we love smartphones and not only. The user experience goes far beyond that, and accessories greatly add to the fun while using our mobile companions.

Among the most fashionable accessories: bluetooth speakers. There is something for every taste, for every price, but what Bose offers us today is a very original object. With the Speaker Cube, Bose will delight DIY enthusiasts as it is a self-assembled bluetooth speaker.

Originally called BOSEbuild, this project was aimed at children aged at least 8 years. It is in the form of an enclosure also self-assembly kit using an app to configure the electronic part. But the principle is so original that it can also seduce the ancients.

Because the construction of this enclosure, which is part of an educational program, will undoubtedly remind the younger one of technology lessons where you made your light key ring or doorbell. Other than that, the object is really cool and downright more useful. In short, the smallest will have fun and the eldest will undoubtedly have this little sense of nostalgia.

Assembly made easy by an app

The goal of the project is not just to put the parts together to assemble a speaker. In parallel, there is a whole program aimed at explaining how everything works. For example, we can learn how magnets and electromagnets work in the sound field, and learn the basics about frequencies and sound waves. Very complete and really exciting.

Also, since the assembly should be accessible to everyone, especially the youngest, Bose envisioned an easy assembly that requires no action. no tools other than scissors and tape. Good game.

Just a minor drawback, for now the project can only be edited with an Apple product. Because the whole accompaniment and assembly process is explained in an application only available on the App Store for now. We contacted Bose to find out if an Android app is planned. You can be sure that we will let you know.

It would be really relevant for all users to have access to it, as this app allows you to really go too far in the design of this speaker. For example, you can adjust the color of the LEDs on the printed circuit to identify moods: evening with friends, silence, while cooking, etc. You can even configure the lighting of the LEDs to the rhythm of the music coming out of the speaker.
