WhatsApp: Facial recognition will soon unlock Android app

While investigating the beta version of WhatsApp update 2.20.203.3 on Android, the editors of WABetaInfo siteoption to unlock app using facial recognition. Until now, the face unlock feature was reserved for the WhatsApp iOS app.

To unlock WhatsApp without having to enter the unlock code, Android users need to go through the fingerprint reader. It is the only biometric method allowed by WhatsApp on Android smartphones. Again, the option was implemented on the iPhone a few months ago.

WhatsApp will also let you join a missed group call

According to WABetaInfo, the option would be: reserved for smartphones equipped with a face-recognition-specific module. Therefore, we think only phones with 3D facial recognition will be affected, not 2D. These include the Huawei Mate 20/30/40 or Oppo Find X/X2. On the other hand, OnePlus smartphones should not benefit from Face Unlock recognition, which relies only on algorithms and not hardware. This is not yet confirmed, especially “option still in development”Notes WABetaInfo.

The beta version of the 2.20.203.3 update allows users to join a group call they missed. It will be possible to respond with a delay to the invitation sent by your contact, but only if the group call is in progress. Again, this feature is still in development.

This is not the only innovation in boxes in WhatsApp. In the coming months, the WhatsApp application on PC will also make it possible to make video and voice calls. On smartphone, WhatsApp will soon offer you to do your shopping directly from a discussion. What do you think about the new features developed? We welcome your feedback in the comments below.
