Waze is enhanced with a new feature that allows you to better organize your trips during peak pollution times and avoid penalties, if any, depending on the category of your Crit’Air sticker and applicable restrictions. A new screen when launching the application will allow you to add your Crit’Air certificate information to the application. This way, Waze will be able to alert you to the presence of two types of zones on your travels when traffic restrictions are imposed: permanent zones (ZCR) where traffic is restricted from 8am to 8pm in certain vehicles, and “dynamic” zones that are activated during pollution peaks (ZPA).

According to the Waze blogservice “Available in Paris, Lyon and Grenoble”, but more cities will be available soon. Waze adds: “All you have to do is update your information. [sur Crit’Air] To get the most efficient route based on local traffic rules and real-time Waze traffic alerts (once only) in the Waze app. Several cities in France have made the Crit’Air stickers mandatory: Paris, Lyon, Lille, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Rennes and Grenoble. In the control situation, the penalties are quite salty. Heavy vehicles and buses are therefore fined 4th class, ie 135 Euros, while passenger cars and other vehicles are fined 68 Euros (3rd class). Private vehicles from other countries of the European Union also risk fines. Without on-site payment, they can now receive it in their country of residence in the event of a crime. France isn’t the only country where Waze can save you from fines should there be a pollution peak.
