The Verizon Galaxy S6 release date has finally been confirmed, thanks to the start of Verizon Galaxy S6 pre-orders. With details flying around, we want to take a look at the most important things buyers need to know about the official Verizon Galaxy S6 release date.
Earlier this month, Samsung and its US carrier partners announced the all-new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The two new flagship smartphones will replace the Galaxy S5 as their flagship models and join the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge as Samsung hopes to compete with the HTC One M9, LG G4 and iPhone 6.
Verizon, like its competitors, quickly confirmed that both devices will be released. At the time, the company did not reveal much, leaving the relevant Verizon Galaxy S6 version information to another date. A few weeks later, Verizon confirmed Galaxy S6 pre-orders for April 1, and we, like many others, assumed we would know the official release date of the Verizon Galaxy S6 by then. Our suspicions were correct.
Verizon Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge pre-orders are now live and those who choose one of the two devices as their next phone can order early. The company is now taking pre-orders through its online portal and physical retail locations.
With Verizon Galaxy S6 pre-orders now live, we’d like to explore what we now know about the Verizon Galaxy S6 release for both models. This breakdown covers some of the bigger details, but it also takes a look at some of the Verizon Galaxy S6 release date details that you could potentially miss in today’s chaos.
Verizon Galaxy S6 Release Date
As we suspected, Verizon’s Galaxy S6 pre-orders confirmed the company’s Galaxy S6 release date. Verizon, like its rivals, will launch the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge online and in stores on April 10. While that’s to be expected, it’s still good to see Verizon launch a phone alongside its rivals. I hope this trend continues with future Android smartphone launches.
Gold Galaxy S6 Release Date
Now, there’s a notable minor Verizon Galaxy S6 release date hiccup. The black and white Galaxy S6 variants launch on April 10, while the gold Verizon Galaxy S6 release date will fall on April 21, roughly two weeks after the initial release.
This isn’t too surprising considering the gold Verizon Galaxy S6 was added late, but it does mean those who don’t want the regular old white or black will have to wait a little longer for the device to arrive.
Best Buy is also taking pre-orders for the Verizon Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but not for the gold Verizon Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. At least not yet.
Best Buy Verizon Galaxy S6
Best Buy Verizon is currently taking Galaxy S6 pre-orders both in stores and online. If you plan to purchase the device on contract, you will find a familiar price setup. Best Buy’s Verizon Galaxy S6 pricing matches Verizon’s. However, if you want to buy without a contract, the pricing will be very different.
Verizon’s no-contract pricing starts at $600 for the 32GB Galaxy S6. Best Buys? It starts at $750 for the same full model. So, if you don’t want to pay a premium for the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, we recommend buying from Verizon or waiting for another retailer to start taking Verizon Galaxy S6 pre-orders.
Amazon, AT&T and Sprint are taking pre-orders of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and often pre-order Verizon smartphones, so Verizon should see their models launch soon.
Reminder: Verizon Edge and Two-Year Contract
