The Samsung Galaxy S9 and the larger Galaxy S9+ are coming sooner than you think. We’ve heard reports and rumors for months and even circled the calendar in late February. However, Samsung recently confirmed the first “Unpacked” event of 2018 and will officially announce the Galaxy S9.
To be specific, the Samsung Galaxy S9 announcement will be made on February 25 in Barcelona, Spain, days before the annual Mobile World Congress trade show.
Every year, Samsung hosts an “Unpacked” event to showcase its latest smartphones, tablets, wearables and other technologies. The first Unpacked of 2018 is on February 25. And if you’re not convinced, here’s the invitation.
Yes, Samsung will announce two new smartphones at the end of February. That’s all we know officially at the moment. At the same time, most leakers believe that a release date will come right after this launch event. The phone is expected to launch as early as March 11-16.
From everything we’ve seen and heard so far, the Galaxy S9 will have a lot to offer. Samsung has made major changes to the camera, the fingerprint scanner on the back, and potentially significantly improve battery life.
However, potential buyers need to soften expectations. The Galaxy S9 and a larger Galaxy S9+ will look almost identical to the Galaxy S8 from 2017. It has the same 5.8 and 6.2 inch curved Quad-HD Infinity displays. However, the rear camera will reportedly feature a variable aperture camera. This basically means that he can change the aperture to get the best possible photo in any situation.
Other changes include a centered fingerprint scanner that’s easier to reach and use, stereo sound, 3.5mm headphone jack, Android 8.1 Oreo, wireless charging, water resistance and longer battery life. Of course, we won’t know for sure until Samsung makes it official on February 25. In the meantime, take a look at a few reasons you should or shouldn’t expect it in our slideshow below.
