Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop Release Details Revealed

New Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop release details for the US have surfaced, as one of the top US carriers has finally rolled out the version of the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update.

Earlier this year, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update, an update that includes both the regular Galaxy Note 4 and the curved variant known as the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The two updates were released a little late, but both are starting to pick up pace as we get closer to the depths of the year and summer.

We’ve seen both the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update and the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update roll out fast in the United States, and today the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update has reached another major carrier.

Today, T-Mobile’s announced plan to offer its users a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update. The update will bring T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge users to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and will offer Android 5.0 Lollipop features and a Wi-Fi passport. The biggest changes in the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update should reflect the changes it brings to the Galaxy Note 4: Lock screen changes, Material Design, and more.

T-Mobile says the update is now available and can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or Samsung Kies. Samsung Kies is a PC application that allows Galaxy smartphone and tablet users to manually install updates prior to the OTA process. T-Mobile’s OTA launches don’t usually take long, but those who are impatient will want to use the app to install the update right now.

The carrier states that Galaxy Note Edge users will also need 50% or more battery life and a few GBs of free space due to the size of the update. The size of the T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update is well over 1GB.

The arrival of the T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update means there should only be one more Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop version left in the United States. The Verizon Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update is still not working and it is unclear when the carrier plans to release the firmware. The software rarely announces release dates in advance.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates continue to gain momentum as we enter 2015. We’ve seen both updates encounter some hurdles during the testing process in the last few days.

Australian operator Vodafone claims that testing of both of its updates failed and is now waiting for a new update from Samsung. It’s unclear how long this will take, and it could take weeks for these two updates to become available. Vodafone isn’t the first carrier to encounter issues and won’t be the last, so Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge users around the world will need to be patient as Samsung works to update the two Note flagships.

While we know Samsung is working on an Android 5.1 Lollipop update, it’s unclear what’s next for these two devices. The update has been confirmed for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and we could potentially see it coming for a few older devices.

Samsung’s Android 5.1 Lollipop update will most likely come with bug fixes for Lollipop issues. Additionally, Samsung appears to be working on a Guest Mode feature that will allow Galaxy users to create several unique profiles. This is important for anyone who shares their phone with their children, family members or friends and coworkers.
