Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Launch Event Confirmed

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date is almost here. Samsung will officially announce and launch the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 at multiple “Unpacked” events around the world. However, the main event is at 11:00 AM ET in New York. Here’s what we know so far for potential buyers.

After months of reports and rumors in the dates, today the company has sent out invitations to put all these rumors to rest. It’s now official and we’ll have all the details in a little over a month.

The teaser image and invite below gives us a few clues as to what’s next. Samsung is making fun of a phone with an edge-to-edge display and a slightly wider and square design. Suggesting the phone will be similar to the popular Galaxy S8, only bigger.

You can clearly see a phone that looks almost identical to the Galaxy S8, which matches the latest rumors and leaked images. It’s safe to say that this will be the official Galaxy Note 8 launch event. It gives Samsung a few weeks to prepare and launch the phone before its rival iPhone 8.

Last year, the Galaxy Note 7 arrived two weeks after its launch event, which means the Galaxy Note 8 will hit the shelves on September 6-9.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Wait for Samsung to focus on the big and beautiful screen, then talk about the battery. After the recalled and exploding Galaxy Note 7, the company implemented an 8-point battery check system. This should let everyone know that the new Note 8 is safe.

As for the rumors, we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect. All the leaks point to an improved but similar design with a large 6.3-inch Quad-HD Infinity AMOLED display. The most important new feature, though, is probably the new dual camera on the back of the phone. Samsung wants to jump into the dual camera race to compete with Apple, LG, OnePlus and others.

A leak has suggested that the secondary camera will allow for 3x optical zoom for advanced photography and portrait photos. We saw something similar from Apple with the iPhone 7 Plus in 2016, although it does feature 2x zoom. Several leaks have claimed that Samsung will offer a secondary AR camera for use with the Gear VR headset, but this has not been confirmed.

Other reports suggest powerful features with board-wide upgrades, a built-in haptic feedback vibration engine and other changes, as well as a new and improved S-Pen stylus. For now, we’ll have to wait another month for rumors before it’s officially announced on August 23. Stay tuned for more details.
