Ride-sharing service BlablaCar invites itself to Google Maps app

Community GPS app Waze is still in the testing phase to expand its ridesharing service, while BlablaCar continues to gradually gain ground in France and the rest of the world. Created in 2006, the service continues to evolve and is geared towards a bright future.

The company that launched the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system a few hours ago has taken a completely new spin after its partnership with Google. An agreement that no longer allows BlablaCar will be integrated into the search results of the Google Maps mobile app.

BlablaCar now integrated with Google Maps cartography

Thanks to this collaboration, an additional travel option will be offered to those who use Google Maps to find routes. Pedestrian, public transport, car, bike or Uber is now added to existing options BlablaCar option integrated directly into Google mapping.

Thus, when users choose this means of transportation, they will have the opportunity to look at the available routes, estimate the cost of the trip and book the car sharing directly. They will be redirected to the BlablaCar mobile app if they are already installed on their smartphones. As for the others, the platform will send them to the Google Play Store or App Store for download.

It should also be noted that this feature has been tested in Belgium and Ukraine before, and the tests went beyond certainty. Good news for BlablaCar, which plans to expand its system in 22 markets. Finally, keep in mind that Google found its account in this story, as its ultra-complete GPS is paid for every booking made from Google Maps.
