Pokémon Go: Teens walk 5km more per week thanks to play

In case you didn’t know, the purpose of Pokémon Go is to catch Pokémon around us, for which you must walk and sometimes even do a lot. For example, the American, who managed to catch all the monsters in two weeks, walked at least 153 km, which is quite impressive.

Withing, the French maker of connected health products that took control of Nokia, wanted to know What effect did the game actually have on the average steps people take?. They then took the figures for the same period (July 25-31), and compared them between last year and this year.

Based on withing 60,000 users in France the sample that had the brand’s bracelet or linked watch was between the ages of 15 and 50. We can say that the result is quite impressive for the youngest age group.

Indeed, those between the ages of 15 and 24 walked an average of 956 more steps per day and averaged 8,033 steps per day, we’re still a long way from the recommended 10,000 steps per day, but it’s better than now. This represents 5 km more per week, Exactly what it takes to hatch in Pokémon Go.

The other two age groups also increased their averages by 342 steps between the ages of 25-34 and 233 steps between the ages of 35-50. The effect of Pokémon Go is more relative to them, this slight increase can be explained otherwise.
