OnePlus 5 Rumors Targeted the Galaxy S8

With the arrival of high-end smartphones like the LG G6 or Galaxy S8 soon, leaks and rumors about the competition are starting to emerge. The first thing that comes to mind is OnePlus, which gained millions of customers in 2016. Now, recent reports suggest that a brand new OnePlus 5 is coming soon to take on the Galaxy S8.

The OnePlus 3 is arguably one of the best prices for performance phones on the market and is a viable alternative to the Galaxy S7 or iPhone. The company is getting more popular with each passing year and is trying to continue this trend in 2017.

Once labeled as the “flagship smartphone killer,” OnePlus has big plans for its next phones. A report from Korea It suggests it will be called the OnePlus 5, will have a curved display like Samsung and tons of other changes. As a result, it can compete directly with the much more expensive smartphones released this year. Read on for more details.

For those unaware, the company launched the OnePlus 3T late last year. It’s a smartphone with a big 5.5-inch screen, the latest processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and almost stock Android. It’s basically the same specs and features as the Google Pixel XL, but for just $439. As a comparison, Google’s Pixel XL retails for $769.

These phones are considered “budget devices” but are as premium as anything else released. This is why they continue to gain popularity among Android users. So what’s next for the company and its “flagship killer” smartphone, here’s the latest rumor.

OnePlus 5 Rumors

A report from Korea He believes he has some solid information about what’s to come in 2107. It looks like it will be called OnePlus 5, not four. This is because many consider the 3T their fourth high-end device, and the number four is considered bad luck in their home country.

So the name doesn’t matter. Instead, the key details are the new dual-curved display that aims to take on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. It may have similar small bezels to go along with the rounded edges on either side of the screen. Additionally, we hear that the company will use the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, add 6-8GB of RAM, and potentially increase storage as well. It offers 128GB as the base model and sells a more expensive 256GB OnePlus 5. It’s even a great alternative to the incoming iPhone 8.

Other details reveal a 23-megapixel rear and 16-megapixel camera set, and even a dual camera on the back. Not to mention USB Type-C, the world’s fastest Fast Charge speeds, and a new all-ceramic body. Instead of using metal, the company may consider using a new ceramic, metal and glass design.

The company can also increase the internal battery to 4,000mAh for all-day battery life. For comparison, the OnePlus 3T currently packs a massive 3,400mAh battery. In closing, the device will likely follow the latest trend in adding IP68 dust and water resistance. If the company can manage all this while staying under $500 like all its phones, it should give the Galaxy S8 a shot for its money.

These are all just rumors for now, a rumor that should be taken a little bit. At the same time, OnePlus continues to improve every year, meeting the competition in specs for a lower price, and we expect this to continue in 2017.

Either way, the Galaxy S8 will launch in April, long before the OP5. The company usually releases the phones later in the year, but we’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more details.
