However, Google’s latest flagship Nexus 6 is still on Android 5.1, but the update could arrive this weekend.

WiFi devices first got the software update, and then this week cellular devices like the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and 4G LTE-capable tablets started seeing the update while the Nexus 6 was still on an older version of Android.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update aims to fix a few glaring bugs in the initial version of Lollipop. — Des (@askdes) May 21, 2015
Yesterday, T-Mobile’s voice on Twitter, Des, posted a rather mysterious comment about the Nexus 6, stating that it will be a Happy Memorial Day weekend for Nexus 6 owners. This most likely refers to WiFi calling, which is finally available on the T-Mobile version of the Nexus 6. This will be introduced with the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
We’ve seen nearly all Nexus devices get the 5.1.1 update so far, and the Nexus 6 is the only device that’s still on Android 5.1 and isn’t the latest version. We expect an announcement from Google every day, and it’s likely that the Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over-the-air update will start rolling out this weekend.
About 10 days ago, Des reported on Twitter that the update and WiFi search have been delayed and should be here in about a week, so everything is in order for an update to reach all Nexus 6 users. This will apply to all versions of the Nexus 6, not just the T-Mobile version. If it’s actually released Google will start rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for all Nexus 6 owners, post the factory image on the website and confirm the release.
It’s worth noting that Canadian carrier Rogers also owns it. approved The Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is coming soon but hasn’t given an exact date. While we don’t know it’s coming this weekend, a lot of people are waiting for it to come. However, there is always a chance, or more delays or bugs, that cause the version to be pushed back even further.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update should hopefully fix the memory leak bug, improve performance and battery life, bring some improvements and tweaks to the camera, and offer more behind-the-scenes stuff that we can confirm when it actually arrives. Stay tuned and we’ll update when the Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update arrives, with more details, download links, and instructions on how to install the latest Android version on the Nexus 6.
