In April, Google confirmed that a new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, aimed at eliminating a few more bugs and improving the Android Lollipop experience, is rolling out to all Nexus smartphones and tablets, and today this update is coming to more Nexus 6 users.
At the end of May, Google finally started rolling out the Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, as most older tablets already got the latest software, but for whatever reason Android 5.1.1 takes a little longer than the rest of the Nexus 6. updates.
Google also recently announced the successor to Android 5.0 Lollipop, now called Android M, but it won’t be available until this fall. There’s an early beta for those interested, linked above, but the latest stable firmware is Android 5.1.1, finally making its way to AT&T today, with more details below.
Earlier this month and late May, Google released the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Nexus 6 on Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular, but the update is being delayed for AT&T and Verizon for whatever reason. It is worth noting that, factory images It probably works with all variants on Google’s site, but these latest updates have been carrier specific rather than a single update for all versions of the Nexus 6 in the US and around the world.
But this morning, after weeks of waiting, AT&T and Google Sending Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is out for all owners. This is a minor 81MB update, mainly aimed at fixing a few glaring bugs and we advise all users to download the latest and greatest software.
There is nothing major in the update, but it is said to fix the famous memory leak issue in Lollipop that has been plaguing users. Nexus 6 owners will get better performance, better battery life, bugs fixed and more, but so far there are no changelogs.
AT&T actually claims it launched on June 11, but we didn’t receive any reports of users getting the update until this afternoon. It’s worth noting that the AT&T update page says a WiFi connection is required, so users may want to wait until they’re at work or home to download the latest software update for the Nexus 6 on AT&T.

Android M is now official and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates coming later this year seem very few, but they are important to keep the device running smoothly and offer the latest security fixes and software improvements. Users are instructed to go to settings > about phone > and check for the latest software. Now that the AT&T Nexus 6 has received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, all users with the Nexus 6 in the United States have been updated to the latest Android version expected for Verizon. That said, we’re hearing that an update is coming for those at Verizon any minute.
