The Minecraft Story Mode Season 2 release date has finally arrived. For those who don’t know, this is a completely different approach to Minecraft. Story Mode is a point-and-click adventure game, rather than building in the endless Minecraft world. Here we’ll go over everything you need to know about gameplay, price, and how to play Story Mode Season 2 today.
Building on the success of the first Story Mode, the developers are busy working on a new five-part series. Now here, part one starts in July. Four more will follow soon, but at an additional cost.
Developed by popular game developers TellTale Games and Mojang, Story Mode’s second season is filled with challenging choices as the story and episodes evolve. If you’re interested in playing Minecraft and the character Jesse, here’s what you need to know as you begin this story-driven adventure.
What is Minecraft Story Mode?
Minecraft Story mode is completely different from the regular game we all know and love. Rather than being an open map for exploring and building things, it’s a storytelling full of decisions. To some extent you choose how the story unfolds and what happens to the main character Jesse.
Hero In Residence is the title of the first episode and the video above gives you a good idea of what to expect. It shows all the characters and the return of Jesse. Along the way, you’ll be tasked with saving the realm as you find Llamas, face off against fearsome gauntlets, and battle enemies in fierce rivalries. Players will make decisions throughout the game-changing chapter as they encounter mystical creatures in temples in the Minecraft world. Instead of building with blocks, it’s a point-and-click adventure game.
Mojang states that some of the decisions and choices from the first season will carry over into season 2, at least to some extent. So those who played the original will feel at home and see how these choices affect the game. Additionally, this season features a voice cast of Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter. Not to mention the few YouTubers who visited the game like Stampy Cat and StacyPlays.
Note that this is one of five chapters to come in the near future.
Minecraft Story Mode Season 2 Release Date
The second season of Minecraft Story mode is available from July 11th. This is a digital download only, although we expect a digital copy this fall.
The first Story Mode arrived in 2015 and more seasons were released over the course of six months. From October 2015 to March 2016. Then three more episodes followed by September. We expect something similar for Season 2, with additional episodes coming by the end of the year and beyond.
How Much Does Minecraft Story Mode Season 2 Cost?
Those who want to play the new Story Mode should know that each episode costs more money. The first version available now is $5 for Windows 10 and mobile, or you can spend $25 for the full season on Xbox One for $25. So you’ll get each season as it airs.
Expect to pay around $5 for each extra episode as it airs. You can purchase them via in-app purchase in-game on mobile devices. Otherwise, get the full season for Xbox.
Note that there’s no Xbox Play support, so you’ll have to buy the game twice if you want to play it on Windows 10 as well.
How to Play Minecraft Story Mode Season 2
The game creators and developers at TellTale Games support a wide variety of different devices. Season 2 is also available on PlayStation 4 if you don’t have Xbox Story Mode.
Season 2 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and Android-based devices. Some Android smartphones and tablets may not support it. Check Google Play Store entry To see if your device will work
When Will Next Episodes Coming?
Story Mode Season 2 episode 1 is out on July 11, but we don’t know when we can expect the next episodes. In previous years, they came as fast as a few weeks or two months. So the game could stretch into 2018, especially if it releases additional episodes later.
Other TellTale games don’t have a specific release window, so we don’t expect anything different from Minecraft. For now, grab the first episode, which only takes a few hours to cast, and we’ll update for the rest of the game as we get more information.
