LG G5 Leaked Images Confirm Rumors

A new phone called the LG G5 has been in the news recently and is rumored to have a brand new design to receive the upcoming Galaxy S7, iPhone 7 and more. Back in November we heard rumors about the LG G5 and this weekend a series of images leaked this confirms everything we’ve heard so far.

In April of last year, the LG G4 was announced with great enthusiasm. A little over a month later, it arrived in late June and was one of the most popular smartphones of 2015. However, something even better is coming this year, with a metal design, three cameras, and more.

Leaks first started to surface in November and were mainly aimed at design and talks by LG, which is looking to take on Samsung and others. But we’ve learned a lot about the upcoming LG G5 in the last two months. From screen size, specs, three cameras, a removable battery, and a possible release date. Below are some photos of the LG G5 hidden in a protective case to hide the final design and all the details buyers need to know.

In the image on the left, looking at the top right, we can see the curved edge of the LG G5 just above the “not for sale” mark on this pre-production test device. The back is the same design we saw in previously leaked images. On Christmas Eve, some photos surfaced by someone claiming to have the LG G5 in hand, but these photos were also covered by a case to hide the final design. Something many manufacturers do. The user posted the images to Reddit and then disappeared. Since then, we’ve gotten a lot of information from a number of different sources, but no more photos of the phone. That all changed this weekend with new photos that confirm everything we’ve heard so far.

Reports ETNews In Korea, popular leakers like @evleaks and more have suggested the same thing (like dual rear cameras) as we see in these photos. Here’s what potential buyers can expect from the LG G5 in 2016.

As you can see the LG G5 is shaping up to be an excellent flagship smartphone. It’s a model that can take the Galaxy S7, iPhone 7, Moto X 4th Gen and everything else released in 2016.

A report published a few weeks ago suggested that the G4 version has been delayed to launch separately from the Galaxy S6 for fears of undermining sales. This year LG is not afraid and is actually aiming to take Samsung head-to-head. We hear that the LG G5 will also be announced in Spain on February 21, the same day as the Galaxy S7. Below are more photos showing the metal frame, bottom speakers and USB Type-C charging port similar to the Nexus 5X.

The images above match everything we’ve heard about the LG G5, but it doesn’t show the “Magic Dock” we heard about in January or the unique new sliding tray, so we’ll have to wait for more details.

We can clearly see the new metal design, rear fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, dual cameras on the back and more in these photos. The device hides, but looks like an all-aluminum silver or white LG G5.

It’s also worth noting that some LG G5 cases have popped up on Amazon this week and this is nothing new. These are usually fake or placeholders for a device before it’s released, but sometimes it’s true. Revealing some of the final design features of a device long before its release date. Below are the LG G5 cases on Amazon. They match the leaked photos, all the reports and more.

These also somewhat confirm many of the rumors we’ve heard, both in terms of design and an early release date. If the phone didn’t come out by June or July like last year, the cases wouldn’t go on sale. This lends credence to the February announcement and mid-March release date reports.

We should see the Galaxy S7, LG G5, something new from HTC and more next month, most likely all available in March or April. Stay tuned for more details and get ready for three flagship Android smartphones in early 2016. What are you most interested in? Let us know in the comments below.
