Google Photos: A bug seriously damages your oldest images

Google Photos

This is a very strange bug that has been affecting Google Photos users for several days. It just seems to play into some old clichés, especially since it can be easily overlooked. Some Internet users noticed that when they returned to their applications, some photos contained various artifacts, as if the photos had been corrupted in some way.

So we notice colorimetric errors, roughly blurred faces, and even lines and “cracks” that appear unexpectedly. According to user reports, this bug only seems to affect photos that are 5 years old and older. Many also show white spots without a clear pattern emerging.

Google Photos may have ruined your old images (but not for long)

Additionally, some images are more damaged than others, and sometimes even the original photo can be corrupted. Therefore, it is difficult to detect the actual behavior of this error as the changes vary between images and users. Still, these flaws, which are quite annoying, persist even after downloading the image in question to the Android, iOS and web versions of the application.

On the other hand, affected users admit that each of the falsified photos was altered after they were taken. In other words, the original photographs without any effects or retouching remain flawless. So the problem most likely lies with Google Photos editing tools.

But the good news is, some Internet users report that the error resolved itself after a few days. So the solution would be to be patient while waiting for an official fix from Google.
