Google Messages plays Instagram and tests photos with filters

Google is testing a new feature for the Messages app, reports XDA Developers, who managed to enable the option and report on their experience. In fact, the possibility to add 3D filters to the photos we send to our contacts, a little as we already know on Instagram or Snapchat, and one of the many functions that Google Mail lacks.

Google Messages: more than just an SMS app soon?

Only five effects have been unlocked so far: Airplane, Balloons, Fireworks, Confetti, and Angel. You can see how it looks in the video attached at the end of the article. It’s not much compared to all the competition has to offer, but it’s better than nothing and this could mean Google is trying to upgrade Messages, the app is really simple right now.

We learn that filters obviously work with RCS, but also with MMS. In any case, we can attribute this new feature to the arrival of RCS in practice. We would like to remind you that Google will launch the equivalent of iMessage for Android in France from July 2019. This technology will provide compatibility with more multimedia and interactive content. A Google Messages that finally lives up to expectations?
