Introduced in iOS 18 for iPhones, Rich Communication Services (RCS) is a communications protocol that works with iPhones. Google Messages aims to replace traditional SMS. It offers advanced features such as file sharing, group chats, and typing indicators. However, several basic functions were missing Direct reply to messages, editing and deleting messages, as well as personalized reactions are still in the conversation. These gaps limit interoperability between different mobile operating systems.
Version Universal Profile 2.7 This protocol, which was completed in June and announced to the public in July, includes the “Extended Messaging” function. This update aims to: improve interoperability between Android and iPhoneNew features include the ability to respond and react to messages, including personalized reactions. Users will also be able to edit, recall and delete sent messages.

Currently, the Messages apps on iOS and Google Messages on Android translate reactions in SMS conversations to make emojis appear correctly. Integrating this capability into the RCS standard means that third-party apps will no longer need to translate every reaction. These can include emojis or emoticons, and it will be possible to remove them later. What’s more, personalized responsesLike Live Stickers or Photomojis, also supported.
Another interesting development is that, Replies to a series of posts Or Thread. This will allow iOS users to see messages referenced by Android users. This is great because it forces Apple to add features to messaging with Android: replies, reactions (private), message editing, recall, and deletion. This is in addition to the other things RCS adds.
