As promised at the Google i/O conference last May, Google continues to add dark mode to its apps. Recently, dark mode has come to Google Messages, Google App, Google Play Store, Google Files, and even Google Fit. A very popular app is still missing: Google Maps.
Google accidentally mocks Google Maps dark mode on Android 10
This Wednesday, October 9, 2019, the official Android Instagram account has been uploaded a short video presenting the dark mode on a few Google or popular apps. So we see Instagram (the dark theme has just been activated) Google Photos or Digital Wellbeing and …Google Maps. Obviously, Google accidentally released this first teaser before the actual release of the dark mode.
“Android 10 has a dark theme. Try it, your eyes and your battery will thank you” highlights the network giant. Theme makes it possible reduce eye strain and extend battery lifee smartphones with OLED screens. To take advantage of it when available, simply enable the system-wide dark mode natively available in Android 10.
Therefore, dark mode is under development. It is expected to be available in the coming weeks or even months to all smartphones that have installed the Android 10 update. Will you activate the theme as soon as it’s ready? Have you already enabled the mode in other apps on your smartphone?
