Update 08/06/2018, 17:20: Many of you informed us about the incompatibility of the app with your smartphone. We make a list at the bottom of the article based on your feedback. It doesn’t seem brand specific, with one user reporting it working fine on the OnePlus 5T, it’s a different story on the OnePlus 6.
The Play Store now hosts Google Lens, a service for recognizing objects with your smartphone’s camera. The distribution of Google Lens has already taken place in France, and many users were able to take advantage of the service through Assistant. As reported by our colleagues from the Tech news site BoundarySome smartphones such as Galaxy S8 Plus, Moto Z Play, Nokia 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi A1 still seem to have problems with Lens setup. Google’s app store listing reports compatibility from Android 6 Marshmallow.
Google Lens: The app is available for all Android smartphones in the Play Store
Google Lens, in the form of an application available on the Play Store, will allow those who have not yet taken advantage of it to download and enjoy it immediately. Those who already have it will be able to take advantage of a shortcut to start the service faster. Manufacturers like Sony offer deeper integration by integrating Google Lens directly into the camera app. This means time savings in using this service.
Google Lens allows memory to recognize objects through your smartphone’s photo sensor. For example, we can refer to information about a place, a monument, and objects and many more. It is also possible to copy and paste text, which is useful for a somewhat long Wi-Fi code, for example. You can also simply translate text.
Some users are reporting that they are unable to launch the service on certain devices, no doubt the search giant will fix the flaws in the coming hours or days. We provide the link so you can download app. Let us know any issues you’re having in the comments. If you’ve already used Lens, what do you think of this service?
