Google invades your garden with augmented reality dinosaurs worthy of Jurassic World

Dinosaurs will forever remain one of the greatest mysteries of our planet. Disappearing in still uncertain circumstances millions of years ago (none of the many theories have yet been proven), these large animals left little trace of their passage. Thanks to numerous scientific theorems, today a few fragments of skeletons, notice the hugeness of these reptiles. Anyone can go to the museum and check it out.

But visiting a museum is not always easy. Google envisioned an augmented reality “experience” to make it easier for you to discover dinosaurs without leaving your home. Thanks to your smartphone, this application allows you to integrate a virtual dinosaur into a real environment. Thanks to the calculation of the distances, the animal is fully animated, “life size” is displayed. You can go back later and even go under the biggest in some cases.

A function makes it possible to place the animal in an environment where there really is enough space to display it. And for those who don’t quite have the space (or for those who prefer to see a smaller T-Rex), another function allows to reduce the size of the animal relative to the available space (for example, until it is small enough to be on a table).

Ten dinosaurs digitally recreated. Tyrannosaurus rex (or T-Rex for friends), of course. Velociraptor, triceratops or brachiosaurus, for which they are best known. The list also includes Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Pteranodon, and Parasaurolophus.

To take advantage of this application developed in collaboration with paleontologists Amblin Entertainment (of course the maker of Jurassic World), Universal Brand Development and Ludia, simply go to Google’s search engine and type the word “dinosaur” or one of the ten names mentioned above.

The experience is compatible with a smartphone underneath android (minimum version 7) or below iOS (at least version 11). In the first case, you can use the widget located on the home screen, any web browser (Chrome, Opera, etc.) or the native Google application. In the latter case, the native app is also an excellent choice. Alternatively, go to Google.com in Chrome or Safari.
